Alva Edward “Ed” Tinker passed away on October 27, 2016, after a long and valiant battle with colon cancer. He was born in Granite City, Illinois on October 19, 1946, the first child of the late Alva Edward and Lorene Walton Tinker. He graduated from Granite City High School in 1964. He served 3 tours with US Army Special Forces in Vietnam until November 1968. He moved to Houston, Texas in 1972, Cypress, Texas in 1978 and Magnolia, Texas in May 2016.

Ed was an industrial sales manager focusing primarily on flow measurement equipment. He enjoyed time with his grandsons, his Dodge Challenger, golf, laughing, telling jokes, giving gifts, crossword puzzles and reading. He saved his coins all year for large fireworks displays on Independence Day. Ed is survived by his wife of 25 years, Diane Gandy Tinker; son Allen and his wife the former Felisha Reyes, grandsons, Aiden and Hunter; brothers Ron of Spring, Texas and Larry of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  A wake celebrating Ed’s life will be held at a later date. A private interment will be at Springer Macedonia Cemetery in Waller County, Texas.
