Lloyd Family

John Isaac Loyd and his wife, Tabbitha “Bitha” (Martin) Loyd left by
wagon train from Ozark, Dale County, Alabama, for Texas in 1872. They
arrived in Montgomery County in December 1872. Traveling with them
were the families of Tabbitha’s brother, Benjamin W Martin, and sister,
Cynthia Ann “Smithie” (Martin) Hughes (wife of Nelson Hughes).

John Isaac and Tabbitha (Martin) Loyd’s children who were born in Dale
County, Alabama, were James Jackson, George Walter, Mary Emma,
Nancy Emily “Annie”, Helen Florence, and William Henry. John Nelson
was born in Willis, Montgomery County after their arrival in Texas.
They later moved to Fields Store in Waller County.

James Jackson Lloyd married Sara Ellen “Ella” Fowler in 1883 in Waller
County, Texas. Their children were Montie Agnes, Annie Mae, and
Arthur Lee.

George Walter Lloyd married Sarah Elizabeth “Sallie” Alford on 9 Nov
1885 in Montgomery County, Texas. Their children were Mary Emma,
John Isaac, George Ernest, Archie Edward, Helen Thanie, and James
Peachmond “Peach”.

Mary Emma Lloyd married John William Smith on 28 Nov 1880 in
Waller County, Texas. Their children were William Holiday and John
Henry.

Nancy Emily “Annie” Lloyd married Joseph Isaiah Attaway on 28 Nov
1880 in Waller County, Texas. Their children were Tabitha Emily,
George Grover, Mary, Maggie Emily, Joseph Milam, Henry R, Samuel, and
Ruby Onetta.

Helen Florence Lloyd married Alfred Carl Hegar on 9 Sep 1882 in Waller
County, Texas. Their children were August Monroe, Helen Florence,
Mina Edna, Sallie Neva, Sophia Anna, and Mary Madaline.

William Henry Lloyd married Lula Alford on 26 Dec 1886 in
Montgomery County, Texas. Their children were William Harrison,
Benjamin, Viola Lula, Harriet, Horace Clifton, Sallie Mae, Edna Annie,
and August Henry. William Henry also married Hattie Virginia Martin
about 1920, and their children were Pauline and Lois Beatrice.

John Nelson Lloyd married Mary Ella “Maggie” Hughes about 1892.
Their children were Ollie Ann, Willie Nelson, James Walter, Laura, Letha,
Katherine Bell “Katie”, Jessie, Bertha Mary, Elmer, Lula Belle, Abbie, Ella
Lorene, and Johnnie. John Nelson also married Minnie Cecil Thornton
about 1928, and their children were Cecile Maxine and Baby Boy.

John Isaac and Tabbitha (Martin) Loyd are buried in the Fields Store
Cemetery in Fields Store, Waller County, Texas. But many of their
children and grandchildren are buried in the Springer Macedonia
Cemetery in Hegar, Waller County, Texas. This is a listing of some of the

It is noteworthy to say that Tabbitha (Martin) Lloyd’s sister, Cynthia
Ann “Smithie” (Martin) and Nelson Hughes’ son, Joseph E “Jode” Hughes,
was living with his first cousin, George W Lloyd, near Magnolia, Texas,
when he died in 1928. Family lore tells that Jode is buried in the
Springer Cemetery.

My husband‘s 2nd great-grandmother is Cynthia Ann “Smithie” (Martin)
Hughes. Tabbitha (Martin) Loyd is his 2nd great-grandaunt.
