Dement, Betty Ann Duggan

Betty Ann “Memaw” Dement, age 78 of Hockley, passed away October 21, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Mamie Duggan, and three brothers, Bob, Layton, and Elton. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Robert “Bobby” Dement; daughters Denise Robinson and D’Ann Guzman of Hockley; brother Billy Duggan and wife Sue; sister Lee Ella Obar and husband Claud; grandchildren Kimberlea Ward, Courtney Fetzer (Jim), Alyson Macias (Sal), Cole Parker; great grandchildren Jolie Standley, Kiley & Laney Fetzer, Sophie Macias; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. After working 40 years in the construction industry, Betty went on to become a very successful realtor for Keller Williams Northwest. She was an active member of Fair Haven United Methodist Church before moving to Hockley, becoming an even-more active member and treasurer of the Macedonia United Methodist Church. Betty was a very active lady spending countless hours with her daughters in Girl Scouts, Spring Branch Girls Softball Association, Fair Haven Children’s Choir, Northbrook Raider Band Booster; and many other civic organizations. She was a very loving, caring, and giving person having never met a stranger. Without the loving care & support given by medical teams at MD Anderson, and North Cypress Medical Center, Mom wouldn’t have gotten an additional 11 years to share with us all. Thank you, Dr. Dileep Puppala and team for everything, we are forever grateful to you’. We live comforted knowing that our Lord Jesus Christ has received a new angel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday, October 26, 2018, 5-7 pm followed by Funeral Services Saturday, October 27, 1pm Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Kissel officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia-Springer Cemetery.

(March 21, 1937 – July 18, 2022)

Robert A. Dement, age 85 of Hockley passed away on July, 18 2022. He is proceeded in death by his parents Searcy and Mildred Dement; sister Dolores Orsak; wife Betty Ann Dement and is survived by his daughters Denise Robinson, D’Ann Guzman; sister Gloria Arlene Florus and husband Donald; brother-in-law Leon Orsak; grandchildren Kimberlea Ward. Courtney Fetzer and husband Jim, Alyson Hancock and husband Donald, Cole Parker and wife Emily; great grandchildren Jolie Standley, Hunter Hancock, Kiley Fetzer, Colton Hancock, Sophie Macias, Laney Fetzer; as well as numerous friends and other relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday July 31, 2022, at Macedonia UMC, following the 11am Church Service, 23391 Macedonia Rd, Hockley, TX 77447. There will be a luncheon afterwards.

Ueckert, Freeman

FREEMAN UECKERT, 88, went to be with his Lord on Oct 1, 2002. Resident of Hockley, TX. Born in Houston, Dec 17, 1913. A devoted Christian, district lay speaker and active member of the United Methodist Church, previously St. Matthews Methodist, Houston and presently Macedonia United Methodist Church, Hockley. Member of the Scottish Rite division of Masonry, 32 degree Mason, Velasco Lodge Chapter 220, Freeport; and Shriners Arabia Temple, Houston; former professional baseball player with the Houston Buffs; WWII veteran; retired with Transco Pipeline; member of Pine Forest CC and Houston Oaks Golf Club. Preceded in death by his first wife, June Sunday Ueckert. Survived by wife, Audrey Schultz Ueckert and twin brother Fred Ueckert, Tyler, TX; daughter, Lane Mabray; 3 grandsons, Mark Mabray, Mel Mabray and wife Elaine, Matt Mabray and wife Jennifer; and great grandsons, Jackson and Daniel Mabray. Memorial services to be held Sunday Oct 6th at 3pm at Macedonia United Methodist Church, 23391 Macedonia Rd., Hockley, TX. Reception following in Fellowship Hall. Williams, Elsie Jeanene Pennick

September 7, 1934 – March 8, 2019

Elsie Jeanene Williams, age 84, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 in San Antonio, TX surrounded by her husband, her three daughters, and a granddaughter. From her birth in Houston, TX on September 7, 1934 to her death she was an inspiration to her family and stayed true to her Christian faith.

She was born to Lillian Dinkins Dabney and Robert Penick and was an only child. She was married to Edward F. Gill from 1954 to 1973. In 1975, in Midland, Texas, she married George Vernon Williams and became a military spouse. The military sent them on adventures to Fort Lewis, Washington and Vicenza, Italy ending up in San Antonio, TX where she worked as a secretary for Diamond Shamrock.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, George Vernon Williams; daughters Cathy Hopkins, Gena Scott, and Julie Gill; grandchildren Elicia Conroy, Kyle Berg, Ryan Berg, and Kelsie Scott; great grandchildren Lilian Conroy and Daniel Conroy.

Jeanene was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Dinkins Dabney and Robert Penick; her step[1]father, John Lane Dabney; her grandfather, Oscar M. Dinkins – all from the Hockley, TX area.

 Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 11:00AM at Northern Hills United Methodist Church, 3703 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, TX. Burial will follow at a later date at the Springer Macedonia Cemetery,23391 Macedonia Road, Hockley, Texas.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jeanene’s name to Northern Hills United Methodist Church.
